We are currently seeking an Application Software Engineer to join our team located in our Bayswater Head Office.

About the Role:

Responsible for the design and development of ANCA’s application software to meet the communicated company/department goals and create quality products. This is to be completed in conjunction with techniques and systems to implement and support engineering functions that achieve innovative ideas and direction, quality workflows and globally applied technical direction whilst creating a collaborative, cohesive and supportive environment for Design Engineering personnel. Reporting to the Application Software Engineering Team Leader this exciting opportunity will see you building Application Software on top of ANCA Motions Core CNC products. This role will allow you to explore opportunities to add additional features above and beyond the framework requested, which will enable you to step outside the box and explore your creative and innovative side. As an Application Software Engineer you will liaise with other Software Engineering Teams, Sales Teams and Product Managers to offer in-depth extensive knowledge on features and workflows within our developed Application Software products.                     

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing Application Software that achieves all customer requirements.
  • Keeping in regular contact with the overseas Application Software Engineers to ensure that they are receiving support and direction.
  • Developing requirements for application logic and workflows from customers (typically machine OEMs) and Product Managers.
  • Supporting Field Application Engineers and Aftermarket Technicians with diagnostic procedures for root causing field issues relating to Application Software products.
  • Providing pre-sales assistance to Sales Personal and Field Application Engineers on possible solutions to customer requirements.
  • Liaise with Branches, Customers and Operations during the preliminary design stage to accurately determine the customer requirements from a technical perspective
  • Provide technical support for applications and service engineers
  • Implement the engineering & technical standards required in the different product lifecycle phases
  • Prepare detailed time estimations and financial analyses in support of projects
  • Develop and work to clear specifications based on the business requirements and analysis or user story acceptance criteria
  • Work closely with product owner to create and refine the produce backlog through writing and estimating user stories
  • Write user stories that follow the INVEST principles (independent, negotiable, valuable, estimable, small, testable), in particular paying attention to having detailed acceptance criteria
  • Apply the requirements of the European CE Directives/Regulation throughout the product development process.

Required Skills & Knowledge:

  • Proven technical competency in specific engineering discipline
  • Proven comprehension of Object oriented software analysis and design
  • Proven expertise in Java programming language
  • Proven ability to autonomously manage small to medium projects, prioritizing tasks and delivering within agreed time frame
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise and negotiate with internal and external suppliers
  • Demonstrated root cause analysis and problem solving
  • Demonstrate a practical application of data collection and analysis
  • Demonstrated experience in Python, C++ or C#
  • Demonstrated engineering mathematics: algebra, calculus, numerical analysis, kinematics
  • Demonstrated experience with algorithmic optimisation and working in a multi-threaded environment
  • Understanding of Scrum or similar Agile framework
  • Knowledge of Tool Grinding is preferable
  • Knowledge of 3D graphics frameworks, such as Open GL & DirectX is preferable
  • Knowledge of web design is preferable
