About the Role:

We are currently seeking a Trade Assistant for our Machine Shop to work in our manufacturing plant located in Bayswater North on a 24-month fixed term contract on Afternoon shift. 

Reporting through to the Machine Shop Supervisor, you will be responsible for assisting with all activities that fall under the machine shop area and to ensure quality and functionality within the required timeframes to meet customer requirements. 


Key Responsibilities:

Support bearing match:

  • Ensure bearings are available for matched components once triggered.
  • Maintain Match/Kit supply as per forecast.
  • Conduct quality checks (Final Visual).
  • Magnet and Rotor Gluing.
  • Data entry and stock transfer to allocated locations.

Production requirements:

  • Apply analytical skills in fault finding and decision making to resolve technical matters. 
  • Ensure required quality standards and production deadlines are met. 
  • Complete all documentation as part of duties.
  • 5S around the Machine Shop. Ie. Improvement activities, daily TPM, machine and factory cleaning. 
  • Empty internal swarf bins, cycle and process external large swarf bins.
  • Keep coolant & oil levels at machines correct.
  • Check coolant concentration at machines when topping up.
  • Deburring of parts as directed.
  • Maintenance support on PMs and breakdowns.
  • Support material and fixture movement into and out of machines.
  • Hold a high regard for safety at all times. 


Required Skills & Knowledge:

  • Flexible attitude with a willingness to learn and follow direction.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Proven problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills. 
  • Demonstrated computer skills – Microsoft word and excel. 
  • Ability to use hand and power tools.
