About the Role:
Responsible for the design, programming and implementation of robot related products and integrations. This is to be completed in conjunction with techniques and systems to implement and support engineering functions that achieve innovative ideas and direction, quality workflows and globally applied technical direction whilst creating a collaborative, cohesive and supportive environment for Design Engineering personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with multi-disciplined Engineers to establish packaging requirements of robot cell, ensuring clearance requirements are met and layouts for efficient robot moves
  • Design and verify end-effectors, robot sequences and robot programs, and any integration with other products and software
  • Take a lead role in installation and training robotic solutions
  • Prepare accurate and updated Bill of Materials Create CAD data and drawings to release-level quality standards
  • Ensure compliance to standard quality design procedures, such as (but not limited to) FEA/CFD, FMEA, and DFM/DFA
  • Provides technical guidance (solution level) in Project Team, potentially fulfilling Design Responsible Engineer (DRE) role
  • Actively involved in Peer/Design Reviews of Engineer's work 
  • Ensure design concepts are peer reviewed by other Senior Engineers and Technical Leaders Ensure refined designs are reviewed and approved by Technical Management
  • Oversee systems for storage and retrieval of both CAD, robot programs (Stash/GIT) and project data
  • Maintain software and program architecture to ensure scalability and maintainability
  • Guides Engineers within Project Team environment to improve quality of work and aid developmental velocity Complete
  • Onboarding program for new starters, as a "Buddy", guiding and mentoring as and when required

Competencies:

  • Demonstrated technical competency in Mechatronic Engineering, including but not limited to; Engineering physics Material technology Basic Programming PLC Mechanism design Pnuematics & Hydraulics Sensing, Encoder or Positional technology Functional Safety
  • Proven comprehension of technical/engineering and design principles, and relevant technologies and their application to machine tool design
  • Proven experience in robot controller programming
  • Proven experience in end effector design and actuation
  • Proven skills in NX or other CAD/CAM systems
  • Proven experience in GD&T and drafting to ASME Y14.5-2009 standards
  • Proven use of Stash or GIT
  • Proven critical thinking skills for root cause analysis and problem solving
  • Demonstrate a practical application of data collection and analysis for scientific decision making Demonstrated ability to autonomously guide Engineers technically within project teams
