Product Manager

Location: Melbourne, Australia

Department: Marketing

Reporting through to the AMT Marketing Manager, the Product Manager will take ownership of all aspects of the product throughout its entire life cycle and provide expert product knowledge and direction to the business.
 
Responsibilities of the role include;
 
Product Development / Application:

  • Practical and hands-on in Developing and Applying the product(s).
  • Leadership in the development of our solutions to meet industry or application needs.
  • Actioning and delivering to the roadmap.
  • Drive cost and quality of the product(s). 
Training Development
  • Manage creation and delivery of Sales Training.
  • Drive creation and delivery of Applications Training. 
Market Research:
  • Conduct structured market research relating to customer/market needs, competitor comparisons, and potential market niches.
  • Analyse and author reports on market research activities.
  • Perform gap analysis relating to existing products & services compared competitor offerings and market needs.
  • Monitor market and advise management of changes in competition, industry, or application. 
Product Management:
  • Develop the Product Roadmap based on market feedback and research.
  • Responsible for producing detailed Product Requirement Documents (PRDs) for assigned Products and Applications.
  • Ensure marketing requirements are captured within engineering design documents and are executed accordingly. (Stage-Gate requirement.)
  • Responsible for Go to Market strategy for Product
  • Own and Drive Product Launch Plans 
Product Marketing:
  • Set target product pricing and costs based on competitive market expectations and competitor offerings.
  • Plan marketing campaigns and promotional activities.
  • Responsible for product related content for online marketing including web site content, E-sales activities, and other online marketing channels.
  • Maintain necessary contact with customers and industries to achieve company objectives.
  • Responsible for product related content for printed material relating to products including brochures.
  • Ensure products are brought to market with required quality standards including presentation, packaging, documentation, sales material, etc.  
 
The successful candidate must hold the below skills, qualifications and competencies;
 
  • Relevant tertiary qualification(s) or an equivalent of 3-5 years in related marketing and/or engineering roles. Wide knowledge of the relevant market landscape.
  • Familiarity with the application of Tool and Cutter Grinding Machines or the application of Cutting Tools.
  • Thinks at the big picture level, entertains wide-ranging possibilities in developing a vision for the future, works across a number of timeframes, and translates strategic direction into day to day activities.
  • Sets clearly defined objectives and priorities and operates accordingly, reviewing and adjusting as required; identifies processes, tasks and resources required to achieve a goal, establishes systems and procedures to guide work and track progress, recognizes actual and potential barriers and risks and finds effective ways to manage them.
  • Prepare complex briefs, letters, emails, and reports using clear, concise, and grammatically correct language, edits written communications to ensure they contain the information necessary to achieve their purpose and meet audience needs, ensures appropriate styles and formats are used.
  • Makes rational and sound decisions based on a consideration of facts and alternatives, makes tough decisions, sometimes with incomplete information, evaluates rational and emotional elements of situations, makes quick decisions where required and commits to actions.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with people at all levels, promotes harmony and consensus through diplomatic handling of disagreements, forges useful partnerships with people across business areas, functions, and organizations; builds trust through consistent actions, values and communication and minimizes surprises.
