About the Role:

Responsible for the design and development of ANCA’s application software, to meet the communicated company/ department goals and create quality products. This is to be completed in conjunction with techniques and systems to implement and support engineering functions that achieve innovative ideas and direction, quality workflows and globally applied technical direction whilst creating a collaborative, cohesive and supportive environment for Design Engineering personnel.

Key Responsibilities: 

Design Assignments & Delivery:
  • Liaise with Branches, Customers and Operations during the preliminary design stage to accurately determine the customer requirements from a technical perspective
  • Drive the electrical design of CNC grinding machines, including electrical component selection, electrical cabinet design, 3-phase power distribution, earth and grounding design, and EMC testing and compliance
  • Be lead electrical engineer for new machine designs
  • Prepare up-to-date and accurate BOMs (bill of material) in a timely manner
  • Provide technical support for manufacturing, applications and service engineers
  • Develop ANCA’s Electrical ‘best-practice’ and begin to standardise ANCA’s electrical design processes and practices
  • Develop and work to clear specifications based on the business requirement and analysis
  • Electrical design of machine control and automation equipment for cost effectiveness, ease of manufacture and optimum reliability
  • Apply the requirements of the European CE Directives/Regulation throughout the product development process (particularly EN60204-1)
  • Take a lead role in establishing ANCA’s Electrical Design Guides and best practice documents
  • Follow appropriate business system workflows to ensure data integrity and provide continuous improvement
  • Follow appropriate business system workflows to ensure resources are used in an optimised fashion
  • Accept accountability for the technical accuracy of calculations and completion of programs
  • Review and recommend changes to standard practices
  • Oversee systems for storage and retrieval of both CAD, project data and source control
  • Work to improve ANCA’s ECAD practices and electrical design deliverables
  • Apply the requirements of the European CE Directives/Regulation throughout the product development process (particularly EN60204-1 and relevant standards under EMC Directive 2014/30/EU)
  • Conduct cost-benefit analysis on all continuous improvement projects to aid justification in departmental objectives
  • Initiate improvement projects based on data analysis and extensive research

Key Competencies: 

  • Proven technical competency in specific engineering discipline
  • Proven comprehension of design principles and their application to machine tool design
  • Proven ability to autonomously manage small to medium projects, prioritizing tasks and delivering within agreed time frame
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise and negotiate with internal and external suppliers
  • Demonstrated root cause analysis and problem solving
  • Demonstrate a practical application of data collection and analysis.
  • Preferred experience in working with robots at integration and programming level.
  • Proven skills in Microsoft Office applications to a medium level particularly MS Excel
  • Proven skills in AutoCAD, Elecdes & 3S Codesys
  • Proven skills in PLC environments, GIT (or similar source control systems), C++, C#, electrical test and analysis hardware (multimeters, oscilloscopes)
